We like Sleep on Latex for regular mattresses and Home of Wool for floor beds and custom cushions. I also put together my own sectional couch using options from both of these companies, and Home of Wool emailed me and was like "are you using these for a DIY sectional couch? If so we have some ideas to make it better at no extra cost." I wish I had known in advance that the latex mattress are insanely heavy and unwieldy to move. OMG. But really grateful to have a totally comfortable and nontoxic couch for ultimately the same price as a West Elm sectional.

A friend texted me this morning demanding to know why I didn't include Sleep on Latex! And now that I've looked, I have to admit, it seems like a great brand.

I LOVE my Avocado pillow top mattress. A bit of an investment but so worth it!

Thoughts on Birch mattresses?

Seems okay to me! Natural latex, cotton, and wool. Made in AZ. It would be better with an Oeko-Tex certification, I think. Why are you asking about this brand in particular?

Thoughts on Nest (we currently have the Natural Latex hybrid) or the new Coyuchi mattress?

I don't include nest because the hybrid uses memory foam, which is polyurethane. But Coyuchi has a mattress now?! I ran to look because I love their bedding and towels. It seems like the standard non-toxic mattress: latex, cotton, wool, made in the US, GOTS and GOLS certifications. I wish it had Safer Made or Oeko-Tex certifications, but it seems pretty good!
