EcoCult Recos: What's Our Favorite Underwear?
Let's get a little intimate today and share what we're wearing and loving.
This is the question I get the most from readers. It’s also the request that comes up the most in my ladies group chat.
It’s a must-have basic, a frequent purchase, an intimate and personal choice that is the foundation of a healthy wardrobe.
It’s your underwear.
We want something flattering yet comfortable, in natural fibers but with a bit of stretch. We want breathability and softness. We don’t want our panty lines to show, but we also don’t want polyester.
So what is out there for people like us? Plenty!
My Personal Favorites
…are Skin (very sexy cotton thongs, panties, and bras), Organic Basics (like the name says), Subset (the sexiest full-coverage cotton panties; trust), and Toad & Co (brightly-colored and soft Tencel).
Proclaim is a little more conservative, with more coverage and thicker fabric, and Pansy and Brooke There are similar, with completely American cotton supply chains.
Other non-toxic and natural options that I haven’t personally tried are Mate the Label, The Very Good Bra, and Sustain by Kat.
If you have eczema or very sensitive skin, Julie May is made for you, but I’m told it can feel and look a bit medical. Thunderpants has gotten poor reviews from two different people I know –– despite the fun designs, this underwear is not cute.
We never recommend Pact here. Here is why.
What About Men’s Undies?
Some good, healthy men’s brands include Icebreaker merino wool undies, MeUndies modal underwear, and Armed Angels Tencel/modal underwear.
I’m probably missing some. Which is where you come in!
What natural undies have you tried? What are your favorites, and what are your passes?
What about oddobody? Also, I have a few bras from Julie May that are great and not medical looking at all. But interested to try some of the other brands options you mentioned!
How about TomboyX? I love the modal and they have comfy boxer briefs in various lengths.
